There are four types of hair and, although most people want normal hair, greasy is a surprisingly common option. Unfortunately, there is little you can do about the type of hair you have. However, if you do struggle with greasy hair there are several natural remedies that can help you deal with the issue.
Choose Your Products Wisely
The professional hair care industry is worth roughly $280 million, while the cosmetic industry is worth nearly $6 billion. In short, there are a lot of products to choose between.
However, many products contain chemicals and other artificial ingredients. This can help to create the right feel in your hair or even make it smell great. But, that doesn’t mean they are good for your hair.
The truth is, that natural products without chemicals are much less likely to damage your hair than those with chemicals. Simply choose the products designed for oily hair.
Avoid Over-washing
If you have greasy hair it will be tempting to wash it every day in order to remove the excessive coat of oil on the surface. However, if done improperly, this can damage your scalp.
It’s important to use shampoo on your hair but not your scalp. This removes the excess oil and reduces the appearance of greasy hair.
You can use conditioners on your scalp to help it stay clean and fresh.
Apple Cider Vinegar
This has been shown to remove the excess oil in your hair. Again, it shouldn’t be applied to your scalp. All you have to do is put two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with some water and brush it gently through your hair after you’ve shampooed it normally.
You can leave it in place for a couple of minutes and then rinse it out. You’ll notice the difference instantly.
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is a powerful plant that can help with cuts and other health issues. It’s also effective at reducing your oil production, effectively lowering the amount of oil in your hair.
All you have to do is mix some aloe vera with an equal amount of lemon juice and some water. Rinse your hair using this mixture and you’ll notice the difference.
Green Tea
Drinking green tea is excellent for your health as it is full of antioxidants. But, you can also brew some green tea and leave it to cool. Once cooled, strain the leaves out of the mixture and use the water to wash your hair. Rub it into your scalp and you’ll boost the health of your head while reducing the production of the oil that causes greasy hair.
Egg Yolks
This is a time-honored tradition and one that actually works. Crack an egg and separate the yolk from the white. you can then rub it into your hair and leave it in place for several minutes.
The yolk will absorb excess oil and will add valuable protein to your hair.
Just make sure you rinse it properly afterward, you don’t want your hair smelling of rotten eggs.
